Situated at ~6,900 feet (~2,100 metres) elevation in the southern Rocky Mountians of the USA, in "upstate" New Mexico, Mágica is a little oasis with big healing to share, a living apothecary of medicinal herbs and growing foods, a space to rest, recoup, and refocus. In peace, in nature, in connection with earth mama.
Raised as a child caised close to the earth, we remain in a simple lifestyle because its healthiest & most cost effective, practical. Growing up, at the maternal grandparent's, everything was home-made, even down to the honey from Grandpa's bees! <3 Home-grown or locally harvested food is always best because that's how we find superior quality for low cost. We used to put up the veggies for the winter, feed the chickens, milk the goat, make quilts from the fabric when the farm clothes are too worn out. Still heat with the woodstove and buy only what we need. Just a simple life, close to the earth, meditative, healing from the wild discinnect of modern life.
That's just how we've always lived. Even to this day.
This grower here, servant of the sacred spring and medicinal plants, started out on an historic farm on the North Fork of eastern Long Island NY and first grew commercially for Marion Gardens organic nursery in East Marion NY.. Growing and swimming, hoeing & weeding, fishing and clamming, living the outdoor life of my ancestors among the marshes & inlets if the island.
Then here in Taos, NM started this, our own herb micro-nursery back in 1995, which became an amazing resource over the years - we wholesaled from north of Denver to south of ABQ and regularly attended seven northern NM farmers markets per season. Beautiful life with the kiddos & pets & livestock & plants - surrounded by babies!
Eventually, health issues subsequent to Lyme Disease & the siren call of university education had us mostly in Albuquerque for a few years, but the water & marshes, the bees & the earthworms, they keep calling me back, so back to the blessed farm in Taos, ever with my plant familiars. When my daughter passed away in 2016, this blessed earth and water cradled me during the deepest grief, healing which continues still. As long as there is pain, there is need to soothe it; the blessed pure water, so gentle and healing. This is the gift I share now - the space, the experience of the healing power emanating from the land and water. Yet I claim no expertise in this - I feel I am but the "hollow bone," as Elder Frank Fools Crow said, a conduit between the water spirits & healing plants and the peoples seeking their own healing connection.
So in recent years, we strive to share the powerful healing energy of the living apothecary and sacred water. This sacred space has nurtured for near a quarter century, by the gentle persistent strength of the holy, peaceful, atmosphere. Now we share with you the space, the healing, the medicinal plants & their seeds, our tinctures/extracts, diet & health guidance, and explorations of discipline in conscious integration of all systems. Still a licensed NM Nursery after 28 years or more, our growing focus has shifted from greenhouse production to farm production, from babies to mature perennial medicinal herbs & pure, potent products made with them. Our growing is "organic plus" - exceeding organic cerification standards (which frankly don't mean much anymore anyway) - and all processing is super-clean & sanitary. Simple. Sacred. Pure.
We serve and tend the land and water as a sacred duty, create our potions and medicines, meditate and purify the mind and body, and offer to share whatever we might, for the amplification of love and healing from our magical gem throughout the world. With extensive formal education, lived and business experience, it is an honor to serve our fellow travellers navigating the waters of life.
Please enjoy with blessing.
